An Historic Scotland Category A Listed Monument

Taken during our Scottish Bubblemeet to Fife (Saturday 19th March 2011) and Edinburgh (Sunday 20th March 2011). This shot is from the Sunday outing in Edinburgh.

The African War Memorial on the East parapet of North Bridge, Edinburgh.

The inscription below the monument reads:
In memory of officers, non-commissioned officers and men who whilst serving with the Kings Own Scottish Borderers (The Edinburgh Regiment) gave their lives for their country during the following campaigns:
Afghanistan 1878-80, Egypt 1888-89, Chin Lushai 1889-90, Chitral 1895, Tirah 1892-93, South Africa 1900-02.

The African War Memorial is an Historic Scotland Category A Listed Monument (HB Number 49067).

North Bridge is an Historic Scotland Category A Listed structure (HB Number 30035).

At the back of the shot is the Carlton Hotel which, through history, has been a department store and a hospital.

The Carlton Hotel is an Historic Scotland Category B Listed Building (HB Number 30142).

The Old and New Towns of Edinburgh are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    I remember this statue well from when we were up, didn’t see this shot though mate – well done.
