An old shot from April 2005. This old cottage with its red corrugated metal roof can be found on the ancient Rathad nam Mearlach (the caterans’ road), once used by cattle thieving clansmen raiding the rich pastures of Moray.

The cottage is about 100 metres from the north bank of the beautiful, secluded Loch an Eilean (meaning loch of the island) set in the ancient pine forest of the Rothiemurchus Estate, at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, near Aviemore, in the Scottish Highlands.

Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S7000 (a pretty good digital bridge camera in 2005)

Wonderful to see Tom, not far from where I spent my childhood as well, this was one of many in the area that had it’s original heather thatched roof replaced with currugated iron and painted red, well photographed and documented,
    Regards, Rod.

  • Cheers Rod, this is such a lovely area. I bet it is noisy inside during a downpour – hehehe

I wonder if this has anything to do with a cat on a hot Tin Roof Tom? Fabulous shot :o)

  • This is the Scottish Highland mate, there is little chance of the roof getting hot – hehehe
