A selection of barges including the floating restaurant and pleasure barges on the Union Canal at Ratho, Midlothian, Scotland. The restaurant barge is a feature of the Bridge Inn (on the left of the picture).

This 31.5 mile contour canal travels from The Falkirk Wheel to Edinburgh.

Popular features of this gentle lock-free waterway include the Avon, Almond and Slateford Aqueducts, which are among the finest in Britain.

The shot was taken from the top of the bridge that the Inn takes its name from.

Camera: Canon EOS 450D (Digital Rebel XSi in the USA)

  • It is a nice place to visit Maggie. The Bridge Inn does nice lunches, there is a free car park and you can walk along the canal in either direction …
