Artist's Description

Cala Morell is on the north coast of Menorca.

The beach in Cala Morell is small, although there are some excellent platforms in the surrounding cliffs for swimming and snorkelling.

Cala Morell is known for its prehistoric caves, the largest prehistoric necropolises found to date in Europe. Inhabited in the Bronze and Iron Ages, the caves have central pillars to support the roofs, chimneys and windows. Inside are raised areas used for sleeping and some have carvings cut into the rock. The caves are visible on the approach to the village and are open to the public.

Cala Morell is about 8km from Cuitadella, Menorca.

Menorca is one of the Spanish Balearic islands, and lies off the coast of Spain in the Western Mediterranean.
