Before sunup Christmas morning, Dexter, Maine, USA. Shot with Kodak Ektachrome film 1961. The color that remains in the slide is remarkable and quite as I remember it that last Christmas on the farm.

Timeless capture – love the muted colours, Thomas

  • Thank you so much. Revisiting one of my first landscape series. Of course the color has degraded but the result is better than the original.

I thought this was a painting until I read the description. not that one is better than the other, but I can’t imagine how you captured that soft muted light and subtle colors so beautifully.

  • Thank you. I had to gently tease the color back into this shot. The ektacrhome slide was well protected but still had very little color left. I very much like the painterly quality of it. Thanks again for your comments,Tom

    Great image, very atmospheric.

  • This captures my memory better than a clearer image would. Glad that you like it, Tom
