Portraits on Route 66 west of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA taken on Kodak Safety Film with a Contax RTS. These photos have little welcome in RedBubble. They are not pristine as they are taken from 30 plus year old negatives stored in desert conditions. They are not appropriate for those who sentimentalize the highway that held great hope for some and such misery for others. Some are restored but most are used as scanned. They so well match my shattered and sketchy memories. They were all produced with great love for the people involved and were a respite from our struggles to try to save the world. We were happy and we failed.

I like these gritty, dark glimpses …

You might consider submitting to this group: Route 66: The Mother Road

  • Thank you Arla. I have submitted things to that group but they always reject this kind of image. In the past I have had a number of works accepted. Now it seems they are looking pretty much for a fantasy that never really existed. I do thank you for the suggestion and appreciate your remarks, Tom

This is real and that’s its appeal to me anyway. It comes with your story and you shared it . I appreciate that much more than some colorful made up story!

  • Thank you for your kind comments, Tom
