The Bed Planters

The Bed Planters

At the first hint of spring people here turn over the earth in last year’s garden plots and start thinking of fresh tomatoes. Before all danger of frost is past, displays of bedding plants are hauled out beside the hardware store, and haul back in at night to protect the tender plants from the cold.

While on display the town’s home gardeners visit like butterflies; going studiously over each display and making their finale selections.

This is magical. I believe the man is grabbing for a cart and I can see the motion in his hand and his face, tiny as it is has the perfect expression on someone reaching for something. This is amazingly beautiful!
