Oil Stains and Red Nandina
Up from where Washington Street crosses Main in Lexington, cases are still held in the old courthouse. On the street nearby another court is held regularly by less noted judges. Their “bench” is a seat on a mildly raised wall between the oil stained street and a fiery nandina. Their docket is not posted and little note is taken by self-absorbed traffic of their deliberations. They are a part of the visibly latent people and their decisions remain among them.
Watercolor 30×22” on handmade paper.
