Up in Smoke
Inhale tobacco giant
I will not be compliant
your swirls of smoke smart my eyes
I see through your silver guise
Luxury lifestyle perpetuated on greed
of nations deceived
of a labour force paid 23p per day
the highest paid worker or so you say
too scared to live
yet too scared to die
support the dictator
replenish the lie
grave human rights abuses
they’ll all make their own excuses
Kenneth Clarke made a remark
upon Brutal Burma’s plight
but his ideas quickly took flight
since he is the deputy chairman of British American Tobacco
His pipe dream seemed a little wacko
The hypocrite is a culprit
who aids the force of labour
these words he cannot savour
don’t pretend to be their saviour
‘til you have corrected your own behaviour
You help support one of the largest armies in Asia
50,000 child soldiers help the earser
ethnic cleansing is just the tip of the glacier
1,500 political prisoners, torture and rape
this aint no breakfast show debate
A global capital of heroin and speed
help repress the nations need
injections of a harsh reality
a nation stripped of all morality
2 billion dollars spent on destruction
feeding arms dealers bent on corruption!
Lost is the voice of reason
for to object amounts to treason
left 20 years in a cell to rot
who shall we say has lost the plot
Still dying for a smoke?
Well if its a Rothmans
I hope you f…... choke!

Wonderful…............. www,dassk.com , Aung San Suu Kyis’ official web site got destroyed for the Olympics. The forum has now shifted to Burma Blogs… The UN , and the UN Security Council have done nothing. Most of the G8, if not all, do business there every day. The petrol company you fill you car up with does business there every day. Men Women Children, die there every day, for the Generals Greed…..

We have lost control about where things we consumme come from.
Even a nice snowy crystal ball…comes from China..
and you can feel that they come out by trilliions…
and have been made by poorly paid labourers..
so I may buy with at a reasonable price.
And yes.. this is a caprice…I know..a kind one.
And tobacco is a daily vice…
and I understand what you are telling us….
they are raw facts…
I am a poet…but I can poem about raw facts…
as you do..
and get mad when someone tells me…
this is propaganda…
these are raw facts….
even Icannot see around my corner.
I do not smoke….
better said…I do not buy tobacco..
but while belonging to this earth… human world…
I am also a culprit…a responsible person.

Don not know why a film’s scene came to my mind.
Guess if this has something to do with your writting.
“The Virgin Spring” from Ingmar Bergman.
The scene….after the raping ot the virgin….the loved daughter of a lord. He…encounter the rapers and murders in one home and recognizing them….take the youngest…a child, a boy…who has participated in it, just moved by the lust and savage merciless father…or companion, and taking him…the boy, he lifted him and smashed his terrified person against the wall…For me…this was even harder than the rape…for I could not but think that even this boy had participated in the murder…..he was innocent somehow…and paying with his life the hatred and vengeance of the adult person. May be I have related the image of the soldier-child.. to this personage of the film. I consider that turning the children i to warriors is even a more insidious and terrible way of “raping” a child out of his world..A raped and sexually abused child can recover….a child turned into a murdering weapon cannot….unless…someone with extreme love, and intelligence, can make him feel…love again.

I will be directing people on my email list to this ‘rant’ dont know too many smokers, they are encouraged to give up here. but those that do, none smoke the ones you talk about here, but what about the history of the other brands, this will require some googling! thanks for the tangent here tg, love chris
