Hi Folks if you have time please visit my latest journal
In Greek mythology, Achilles (Ancient Greek: Ἀχιλλεύς, Achilleus) was a Greek hero of the Trojan War, the central character and the greatest warrior of Homer’s Iliad.
Later legends (beginning with a poem by Statius in the first century AD) state that Achilles was invulnerable in all of his body except for his heel. Since he died due to an arrow shot into his heel, the term “Achilles’ heel” has come to mean a person’s principal weakness.
Originally I had intended to use a female nude for this transformation… whilst searching for suitable nudes I chanced upon this magnificent male… as I began working on the piece I reflected upon my own personal health… due to a childhood accident I have a short leg 45mm to be precise… now 37 years later the heel of the “good” leg gives me tremendous pain… it is my “Achilles Heel”….
This lone warrior now reflects… all of this power and strength contained within this frame… balanced yet unbalanced… is he aware of his impending doom…
Symbolically this images contains a host of hidden metaphors… your thoughts please?
for this magnificent male
