This is the second painting in a new series that I am working on. This one was inspired by my love of Native American war paint and a poem that I discovered. These paintings are done on “found” pieces of drywall that are discarded on the job sites that I visit daily. In my current pieces, my style has evolved into a mixture of realism and expressionism. I am trying to spark a personal connection by using color and composition in such a way that engages the viewer on some level. There is energy in my painting process; I want them to experience that energy. I also like to use recycled paint and old newspaper clippings embedded in my paintings as social commentary and informative “snippets” about the piece.
