    Hi All,
Feed back requested on this. Too dark overall? Too dark at corners? More toning? Should I use a tripod next time?
Also… any suggestions for a title would be appreciated… that part of my brain isn’t working tonight.
    Thanks!

Looks good to me Tom, the only thing I could possibly suggest is maybe bit more contrast between light and dark? I like the movement in it, gives it a mysterious look.

i like it, but it’s so abstract it’s pretty hard to critique. if it looks good, it’s good. :) ok, that’s pretty simplistic but i do like this and as it doesn’t seem to be representational, i think it’s perfect. it reminds me of a kind of rock i used to collect called Apache Tears. it was a smooth kind of obsidian. maybe there’s a good name in there someplace? i like your image Tom!

  • Nikki Trexel

    Nikki Trexel

oh, you know what it does look like? if i’m underwater and looking through muddy water to a tree above. :)

  • Tom Vaughan replied

Thanks, Nikki! Apache Tears is a great name! I don’t think I want to name anything “muddy” unless its actually a picture of mud ;) Your comment also made me think of “through the looking glass”.

I like it – very moody and mysterious. Enhance contrast and sharpening, but not too much. Are these reflections? “Clear as mud” may be a good title… I’m joking!

  • Tom Vaughan replied

Thanks for your thoughts (except the “clear as mud… see below). I’ll try to brighten up the background a bit and sharpen just a tad… I think that’s turned down pretty low. As far as what it is… hmm… I seem to recall a talented photographer named Miron who never likes to give out such secrets… (but yes it is a reflection).

does anyone else see a crazed ant with a skull for a face intent upon devouring the world…or is it time for me to go to sleep?

  • Tom Vaughan

    Tom Vaughan

ok… increased the contrast and clarity a bit…

Go to bed Tom …. LOL Looks like twisted veins in an eye ball through a scope to me, perhaps I need sleep too, will blame jet lag , interesting shot !!

  • Tom Vaughan replied

    LOL…there you go… “macular disintegration”!

OOPS – guilty as charged! But I was just trying to help you with the title…

this is beautiful…i recognized it as I have several images the same of reflections in water…..it is a mysterious view of above, as if from below …..mesmerizing…..

  • Tom Vaughan replied

    Thanks for the title :)

Well I think its great, you know how I love abstracts…..how about “Tree of Life”. Great shot Tom!!!

Like Anthony said maybe a little more contrast but then again this is realy cool effects ,I clearly see a beautiful tree and I like that yellowish tone, beautiful abstract ,I think it could go in that new group «realistic abstract» ..not sure of the name of the group but it’s easy to find…Gigi

I belie=ve it is fine as it is ~ it’s abstract realism ~ you don’t need a tripod; slightly more toning might work to lighten it slightly ~ or reduce the opaciity to 85%

I think this is beautiful, and I can’t think of any way to improve it now. Although I can recognise the reflection of a tree, what appeals about it is the abstract natre of the pattern, so no, a tripod isn’t necessary. I don’t think it’s too dark either. I ratherlike the moody effect.

i love it! perhaps just a little more contrast but i wouldn’t bother with a tripot.

I think it is great! I’d suggest working the contrast, but i really love the image!

I like this as is, Tom. The movement I think makes it unique and gives it a bit of mystery (and life).
