Farewell Sweet Prince
This morning, we awoke to one of our co-inhabitants (peacocks) lodged high atop a poplar tree, unable to free himself. My husband got out the ladder, climbing about 16-20 feet up to pull apart the tree and dislodge the young male. Unfortunately he landed with a thud, unable to land on his feet or fly. He was placed safely out of harm’s way until I was up and about for the day, my husband carried him into the house, while I checked him over. He had broken both legs and had several deep cuts in his chest from struggling in the tree, his breathing became more intense and I knew it would not be long, so I just held him in my arms until his last stretching breath. We buried him, after he gifted a few feathers, with several of his own in attendance to honor the sweet prince, not much older than a year.
As an animal/wildlife rehabilitator, losing an animal is inevitable, doesn’t make it any easier on the emotions, even after thousands…

Farewell Sweet Prince belongs to the following groups:
All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Core [C.O.R.E], Live, Love, Dream: , Masterpieces: Literary Workshop, Spiritual Art and WMGThe circle of life calls yet another friend home
whilst in my arms ~ to inspire an ode in poem
Like threading rope through the eye of a needle
a misguided flight path or roost to feast upon beetles
No more fear of predation ~ now free to be in peace
taken, guarded and guided between life and life’s release
Of royal bloodline, watchful in colors display and lore
reflected as a phoenix risen from fiery deaths’ restore
Your last stretching breath accepted the profound gift
in sharing our ability to love and feel lights shift
You waited for empathy’s senses to override any limits
to insure safe passageway beyond deaths’ benefits
In love, without fear, we commend the body to the Earth since
this is where you began ~ as brethren, we bid you farewell sweet Prince.

I have had two dogs passing by in my own arms… but their dead was not so “beautiful”... we had to put them the injection. And I could never forget the feeling of weight, cold and out of time-life that my arms felt.
I guess it is also the always the same… except when we sacrifice animals for feeding ourselves… I used to spend times in towns, when little and this was daily. Nothing was expressed but satisfaction for the food going to be prepared, but now i see that we are trying to return a bit to the ritual of the sacrifice, in which we honor the “victim” and thank it…ask for forgivness and enjoy the food with more heart.
yesterday i was seeing a program that is very famous now here… it is called here “Pesca Radical” which would mean in English Radical Fishing… and it turned my stomack out to see how those huge baskets of crabas were emptyed like the garbage truck here in my street emtpy the containers into the vehicle. They were thrown into a big tanks, but as it was very cold the many of the legs got broken,,, which of course was not nice for selling afterwards. I felt impressed… sorry for the animals… oh…
I feel sorry for your peackock…but happy for your tenderness.
I came here to congratulate your for the ffeatures… and had to see what I was congratulation and here I am.
A hug
Rosa

Rosa, have been caring for and healing wildlife for over 20 years, so unfortunately the numbers are extremely high for losses and most is also at the hands of human-beings’ ignorance and greediness.
Thanks for your support ~ HUGS ;) xoxox
