Artist's Description

The equinox begins at the end of September
Our Sun direct over the equator, as I remember
The day and night equal, everywhere on Earth
Autumn is special, the season of my birth
The colors are changing yellow, orange and red
so brilliantly vibrant, this earthen bedspread
Summer precedes, while Winter does follow
This season of harvest that calls to the swallows
Who remind us to protect and warm our homes
Keeping a proper perspective, not monochrome
We’ll evaluate losses, gains and growth in labor
‘Letting go’ of the chaff, germinating with neighbors
West winds will blow away artificial aims
So what’s solid & dependable, we surely may claim
Attuned to the true nature and feelings of Fall
We’ll live and work, “walking our talk” after all
With courage to serve in changing things we can
Sowing seeds to accept and love is the plan
Next year, most certainly, will not be the same
As we overcome our anger, fears and shame
Change reaps the reward of our evolution
This wise and strong path to our absolution
Ninety days in this cycle and season of plenty
As we’re reminded that “hindsight is twenty-twenty”.
