I have a DREAM 2009

On Monday, January 19th, Martin Luther King Day is observed in the U.S..
His most infamous speech, “I have a Dream” was delivered to 250,000 civil rights supporters on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, at the culmination of the march on Washington for jobs and freedom, in August 1963. The speech is credited with mobilizing supporters of desegregation and prompting the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
Much of “This Dream”, seemingly died with him, when he was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee by a sniper’s bullet while he stood on the balcony, prior to a planned protest to march in sympathy for striking garbage workers in the city. The day before, he delivered a speech recalling a previous attempt on his life – prophetically explaining with serenity, “I’m happy, tonight. I’m not worried about anything. I’m not fearing any man.”

On Tuesday, January 20, Barack Obama will be sworn in as the first African American President of the United States. This, to me, represents the return of the “Dream” and the American soul.
America is many things, but it isn’t a nation with a wisdom tradition – it needs to become one and soon…we need to become a wiser nation that is capable of introspective politics with a deeper regard for its philosophical and spiritual roots. It needs to return to a respect for higher principles and considerations of the generations to follow.
We were founded by philosophers and political mystics, men who held high dreams about what the human spirit deserved in terms of right government. America was born to be an experiment in the rights of the spirit as best as could be incarnated by men who could see the potential if successful for the benefit of all humanity.
The inauguration of Barack Obama represents far more than the historic swearing in of America’s first African American President. It represents a shift in the compass of power of America as it enters the global era, leaving behind America’s century of wealth and military domination. The days of international cooperation and diplomacy have begun with crises on every front, we also need to rediscover ourselves economically. Surely Americans are capable of creating ways of responding to the needs of this world rather than becoming dependant and fearful (returning to the days of the Great Depression).
The fact that we are on the verge of a new era already says that the inspiration abounds for those who are ready and able to make bold choices.
In voting in Barack Obama, we voted to return to the sacred contract of America because this man represents the rule of law. He is a professor of Constitutional Law, a man who respects the Bill of Rights and the fundamental principles upon which this nation was built.
WE CHOSE THE SPIRIT OF AMERICA OVER THE ILLUSION OF THE POWER OF AMERICA.
The well being of America is in our hands and it is up to us to reach into ourselves and reach for the soul paths of our lives, our highest potential of hope, ending the war, and the realism about the fact that we will need to sacrifice to make it through the years ahead together, with the spiritual grace of our forefathers.
I have a dream today in 2009…Welcome back America and may we bless and watch over President Barack Obama, his family and each and every conscious American!

    Most people don’t realize how soon into its creation as a nation that America experienced this violent earthquake of its vision and that had the Civil War succeeded in breaking apart this nation, the great founding vision of democracy would have evaporated from the face of the earth. But America made it through that crisis under the moral and spiritual guidance of Abraham Lincoln, whose spirit held the union together with an almost mystical power of will and determination. He was a man who knew he had a destiny, a man with the soul of a poet, a visionary, and a mystic who was passionately in love with America and its founding visions.

The US has such an influence in every aspectof life throughout the globe, that I feel it is important to be tuned in to what is going on there.     Outstanding image work Tammy … must say fantastic words too … particularly WE CHOSE THE SPIRIT OF AMERICA OVER THE ILLUSION OF THE POWER OF AMERICA. Can only say, being a spiritual Australian with US links in family … very wise choice indeed … spirit is ALWAYS stronger over the man-made illusions that are created by greed of any type, and by that I mean Internationally … not just American … as it too happens in Australia … very bad energy to travel on … goes down wrong paths and never comes to true freedom … that of spirit and the awareness of just being that comes with such insight .

    I see Barack Obama not only as a very educated individual but, and first & foremost, a very spiritual person aware of his being who has also retained his connection to his soul consciousness and who can lead Americans back to that pathway of seeing and being with not only good virtues but with good understanding.     I feel very strongly about the words, as you so aptly picked up sis and yes “SPIRIT” and “BEING” are very important keys to our futures as ONE and WE become part of our vocabulary and belief, rather than US vs THEM ;)

    My understanding was speaking about it inside.. Was thinking Obama..
    While the “old one” gone, and this war stopped… Coincidence ???
