Amethyst Swirl

Luminous brilliance embedded asymmetrically
in an earthen cemetery of jewels,
A wonder to the ancients, as legend of comets and
dragon flamethrowers of celestial renewal;

Geometric in form with metallic hues of
royal violet to promote wholesome dreams,
Kismet in symbols of temperance, in methods
of intoxication, a metaphysical scheme;

Meticulously faceted and polished to a metamorphic
gem, set atop a metal-smiths’ creation
Attuned to Aquarians, something akin to Peace
and humility, an age unmet in revelation;

Timetables evident of divinity, which plummet
the darkness in these jewels of light
Its nametag reads amethyst piety worn as
talismans by those claiming to be forthright;

Defined in French and Greek, as not to be
drunk on methy (wine), sometimes abused,
This precious purple quartz and its metaphysic
properties are metaphorically confused;

I have never met an amethyst that did not fascinate
and capture the sparkle in my eyes,
As I adorn them with cosmetic shadows and
metallic liner for that for that violet-blue to magnify.
