Spirit Sword

In honor of the sextiling of Jupiter and Mars at 4:29pm EST/US on 10/27/08, I thought it would be interesting to play with the symbology of this particular event…
Remember the song, Age of Aquarius, the group who sang it was the 5th Dimension and was made popular by the Broadway musical “HAIR”...

When the Moon is in the Seventh House(Libra/Venus – according to current calendar ended 9/23), however, also note that we humans have been altering time with such things as Daylight Savings, etc…Four days (?)

And Jupiter aligns with Mars – the aspect of sextile, links planets in compatible elements, encouraging an active exchange, eager to work together – an exciting conversation…Jupiter is representative of the Producing/Expansion department, that is positive, optimistic and generous – usually associated astrologically by imposing god-like bearded men like Zues or Marduk, with the seat of anger and primitive emotion driving the forces. Also associated with Jupiter are the Eagle, sceptre, thunderbolts, power, equilibrium, justice, optimism, organizing, ability, the color Blue, the East direction, Thursday and the metal, Tin. While Mars, on the other hand, is the security department head, responding with action and self-defense, making one brave, courageous, daring and even fearless. Astrologically, it’s the symbol of the aggressive man, like the Roman God Mars, the Greek Ares, or Mesopotamian Nergal, helmeted with a shield and sword or spear, perhaps mounted, sometimes with a wolf. Also associated with Mars are energy, violence, courage, ardour, tension, fire, iron, the color red, South direction and Tuesday.

Then peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars…
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius…
Harmony and Understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation and the mind’s true liberation – Aquarius…

OK, so I’m a hopeful romantic…I can DREAM!!!

The possibilities are endless…

Tammy, I had a very strange experience with Aleister Crowley. He was very heavily involved in Black Magic. Years ago I bought a wonderful set of Tarot cards written by him and design by some lady, whose name I can’t remember presently. I looked at them once! They were beautiful. I remember I hid them in my husbands tool kit. Why I did that I still don’t know. But I was always conscious of their presents. 20 years later I was sitting at a lecture when someone mentioned his name. My body was suddenly covered with goose bumps and I knew that when I got home I would have to burn them. Which is exactly what I did. I still don’t understand all of it. I just knew that I shouldn’t have them in the house. He was not a happy man and constantly battling with issues he never resolved. I don’t think I’m strong enough presently to do a healing painting and dedicate it to him. There may come a day when I understand all this better. Maybe you will come up with something that reflects these rather strange feelings towards him? I hope so.Sx

He was a colorful character who participated with other British artists and aritocrats in associations like the “Order of the Golden Dawn” with other noted members like Dr. William Wynn Wescott, S.L. MacGregor Mathers, Dr. William Robert Woodman, Dr. Israel Regardie, William Butler Yeats, Arthur Edward Waite (Rider-Waite Tarot) and Paul Foster Case. Women of the Golden Dawn was written by Mary Katherine Greer – she may be who collaborated with him on the Tarot that you speak of. Aleister apparently had an interesting EGO, as he believed that he personally ushered in the Aquarian Age in 1904. I have had many issues with standard Tarot, I prefer alternative decks that have more positive and uplifting messages ;) xoxox

I read the Tarot Tammy when I was younger. I don’t do it anymore and use other alternative like you mention. Having said this I am designing my own set, but using My Spirit Guides as a positive influence. I experienced a great deal using the traditional sets and stopped using them. Which I will not use now. There may come a time that I will come to understand what I felt and experienced but presently I leave them alone. Thank you for the information you sent me. I hope you are well and busy? Thinking of you and sending you a hug!Sx

Symbolically, I use the major arcana to identify archetypal energies, that are strong in our ‘Tribal Character’, for healing purposes in discovering ‘self’, actually wrote a whole chapter on it in “7C’s”, that I heavily researched to include correlations with Almost All myths and legends for archetypal profiling…;)love ya xoxox
