Ancestral Sky
Tsalagi – Cherokee is my ancestry and Sequoyah is my hero, as he inspired the first indian alphabet written in 1822. He is also one of two representatives of the Cherokee tribe (with Will Rogers) in the National Statuary Hall in the Nation’s Capitol Building, Washington, D.C.
Tsalagi – Cherokee Blessing
May the warm winds of Heaven blow softly on your home,
And the Great Spirit bless all who enter there.
May your mocassins make happy tracks in many snows,
And may the rainbow always touch your shoulder.
The photograph is again a sunset to the west of our cabin with an additional photograph of a bronze bust of Sequoyah.

Unseen
Ode to Sequoyah
The names of Waitie and Boudinot
-The valiant warrior and gifted sage -
And other Cherokees, may be forgot,
But thy name shall descend to every age;
The mysteries enshrouding Cadmus’ name
Cannot obscure thy claim to fame.
The people’s language cannot perish – nay!
When from the face of this great continent
Inevitable doom hath swept away
The last memorial – the last fragment
Of tribes, some scholar learned shall pore
Upon thy letters, seeking ancient lore.
Some bard shall lift a voice in praise of thee,
In moving numbers tell the world how men
Scoffed thee, hissed thee, charged with lunacy?
And who could not give ‘nough honor when
At length, in spite of jeers, of want and need,
Thy genius shaped a dream into a deed.
By cloud-capped summits in the boundless west,
Or mighty river rolling to the sea,
Where’er thy footsteps led thee on that quest,
Unknown, rest thee, illustrious Cherokee? – Words by Chinnubbie Harjo known as Alexander Lawrence Posey
Tammy, your work and choice of music makes one sit and contemplate the importance of the day. You are an inspiration and your wonderfully giving Spirit can be felt everywhere! This is wonderful and I end this with the words of …..Morning Dove,..... Everything on the earth has a purpose, every disease an herb to cure it, and every person a mission. This is the Indian theory of existence. Thinking of you this early morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Sxoxoxoxox
