An unusual capture, three bridges along the East River. The Brooklyn Bridge, The Manhattan Bridge, and The Williamsburg Bridge in the background.
The Brooklyn Bridge completed 1883, opened up Brooklyn to the average and low income resident travelling from Manhattan. It is the oldest suspension bridge in the United States.
The Manhattan Bridge completed 1909, was another connection between Brooklyn and Manhattan.
The Williamsburg Bridge completed 1903, brought the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn to Lower Manhattan. It also held the record until 1924 as the longest suspension bridge span on earth.
