I live in New York City, born and raised. I love walking around my city and seeing the sights. All of it interesting, much of it unexpected.

I have enjoyed photography since my mother bought me an old Brownie camera. We won’t go into how many years ago that has been.

Friends of mine got me into SLR film photography, where I dove in whole heartedly. Shooting, developing, printing, taking courses. Because of my career, I stopped, but always wanted to go back to being a shutterbug. After I retired, I found I had time for it again. I think I was waiting for the Digital Camera Age. Give me a digital camera (Nikon D50), a computer (IBM-compatible), and software (PS Elements 5 & 6) and I’m yours for life.

I’m still learning. My friends have helped me become better (Ann, Annette, Shirley), and the guys at the Ritz Camera Shop in upper Manhattan (Otto and Al), and all the people whose work I”ve seen and admired, and whose techniques I’ve studied. All have made me better.

Yes, Otto, the horizon on the picture is straight going across, not up on one side and down on the other. Yes, I boosted the color so it doesn’t look flat, I’ve sharped the main image and blurred the background to make it pop. Yes, Ann, I’ll get that white distraction out of the photo, but I thought it gave the picture character. Not buying that, huh? Okay it’s out. Yes it does look better. Wow, they don’t let up. LOL
