HISTORY IN CONTEXT
or It was all new once…..
A picture of the skyscape in my home town of Cashel County Tipperary Ireland. On the right is Grant’s Pub, which is confusing also called Kearney’s Hotel and is in fact an 15th century tower house, it is owned neither by Grants or Kearneys, it is run by the Cummins family, and I can recommend their grub.
On the left is the Old Town hall a Victorian building in the semi-classical Italian style, it houses the heritage Centre and little else, the council having decamped to new offices across town. The late medieval pub is actually in better repair and used more extensively than the bright yellow town hall.. food for right wingers who claim that free trade is your only man when it comes to a healthy social economy!
