I’ve been out of the Red Bubble loop for some time now, just too busy, writing the folk mag, organising a couple of festivals, (one this weekend), and doing a lot of teaching. Oh and some really interesting graphic work with an an engineering company – who are installing modest sized wind turbines…

Camera wise , I’ve had a shift in kit, my beloved Fuji 602Z finally gave up and refused to copy pix to the memory card, Luckily I got a second hand one which was like new for 60 Euo when I think I paid over 700 for the same camera when it came out, makes you see how short lived this technology is.

I’ve recently upgraded my Nikon Kit with a D200, wow what a machine , but its heavy on the batteries, I’ve done nothing creative with it yet though, still climbing the learning curve.

When the Fuji packed up I bought a Pentax K100D, and here is one of the pix form it, I’m not sure about the camera, I’ve a lot of old pentax lenses and it works fine with them, just after years of Nikon Fuji DSLRs , it’s another learning curve to get back the the Pentax. , and I’d rather be taking the pictures than being an anorak about the technology.

The picture is of the famous Cahir Castle, one of a line of Butler fortresses that were built on the Suir and Nore Rivers. This one was live din until the mid 1960s. Bits of it have appeared in films , such as Excalibur and the Secret Knights of Tir Na Nog.

I’ve a much more striking black and white image of the Castle, but i can’t find it , yet.
