It had barren appearance and almost a lunar feel as we walked out onto the salt crust of the dry Lake Eyre, almost like walking in the snow, but marginally warmer. The near-full moon lit up the salt brilliantly.

  • Thanks George – walking out there really seems like nothing else in the world.
    You do have to tread carefully though as the salt crust is quite brittle in many places, giving way to a gooey black silty mud which is not unlike Vegemite in appearance!
