The Dingo is the wild dog of Australia, generally roaming the ‘outback’ and largely prevented from roaming the eastern states (the maintenance of a ‘Dog Fence’ keeps these wild dogs separate from the sheep of East-Australian farmland).

Sighted here on the Halligans Bay ‘Road’, SA, Australia.

    Stunning backlit capture Tim!

  • Thank you very much Magaret. I would have liked the light to be shining more on the visible side of the dingo, but he wouldn’t run the right way for me to get that shot!

A good image here Tim – I’ve seen them and heard them but never managed to get a picture in the wild! :)george

  • Thanks George – you often hear them howling in the distance in the morning, and sometimes see them ‘trotting’ across the road ahead of you. They are usually as curious about the tourists as the tourists are about them!
My friend was driving at this particular point in time and he stopped to watch the dingo so I had opportunity to grab my camera, and of course, mount my telephoto zoom lens.
