Artist's Description

Isn’t it ironic that the only thing left standing after a house fire is the chimney. As a cold hard solitary reminder: that’s where the fire should have been.

I’m not so sure that a single house fire was what claimed this home (perhaps a series of smaller “camp” fires?) but only the stone fireplace and chimney remain as a solitary reminder of where someone (probably a whole family) once lived.

This remnant is one of several ruins, or part(s) of ruins, that are all that remains of the former town of Farina on the historic Old Ghan (Railway) Line which used to link Adelaide and Alice Springs.

SA, Australia.
