Smoke from Gunung Bromo by Tim Coleman
Clear

Smoke is seen rising from Gunung Bromo (Bromo Mountain) which is located in Taman Nasional Semeru – Bromo – Tengger (Semeru – Bromo – Tengger National Park) in Jawa Timur (East Java), Indonesia.

Gunung Bromo is viewed here from Ngadas and is one of Indonesia’s many active volcanoes. Recently (October 2010), it has become more active than usual, and is now releasing thick clouds of dark smoke and ash.

Canon EOS 450D, EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, CPL filter.

Nice photo Tim. That mountain is spectacular. I’m glad you kept a safe distance from the ‘action’.

  • Thanks Michael. Actually, I think the action was all happening on a smaller mountain behind the range in the foreground so we were well clear, and the wind was blowing the smoke away from us too!
