Oxfordshire Edible!
Found in a wood not far from Woodstock in Oxfordshire. I was amazed at the size of these snails! This one is dead, but I found many alive in the undergrowth, but very tricky to photograph! A very helpful local woman told me that these snails were imported by the Romans as they were a delacasy. As there is a Roman ruin less than a mile away it could be true. Apparently they are not found anywhere else in the UK.
