Stripped of defensive weapons and loaded with fuel and bombs. The flight of 16 North American
B-25 Mitchell Bombers were cemented in history with the first ever bomber attack originating from an aircraft carrier.
Although the attack produced minimal damage to the City of Tokyo, it vividly demonstrated that American power could be projected directly to the Japanese homeland and provided a critical morale boost to the American public at home.
