This was an experiment gone wild!! My husband, Homer, is so thoughtful when he’s in the woods, always bringing home a bunch of wildflowers or a handful of acorns and sometimes feathers! I love these surprises and was thrilled when he brought home these six baby crow feathers. They are actually black, but when I scanned them, it lightened the color. To begin, I scanned the feathers using an Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner, then spent two hours getting rid of all the little dust specks that showed up. In PhotoShop, I added two of my own textures, blended the colors into soft pastels and was happy with the results. Homer found the feathers in our neighborhood located in Penrose, North Carolina in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
I dedicate this image to my husband, Homer, who surprises me with precious gifts – every day.
