Pissed off

Or The man who had a creative block all week and got rid of it on Friday night.
I was supposed to do something about breakups for my friend’s new album.
This oughta sort that. I tried as best I could to recreate those crappy plastic chairs we had in school, because they’re vile.
I was going for a Space Invaders idea first of all but hadn’t thought of what to do for the Invader family. I wanted to show the erosion of someone. This concept blossomed along the way.

favd…i always set ourt with a plan that just never makes it to see the light of day from my initial plan something else completely diff emerges….sumtimes it drives me insane i feel ya as i just read the scripts of sum of ur pieces and it looks like that hapens to you as often as it does me…

  • theyellowfury replied

I can get obsessed and stressed over my work but it’s always good stress, like what a sport fan gets from watching sport, apparently. But I’ll have to take the word of the thing I was reading about that. I know very little about sport.
But getting back to the point, it is challenging. I work in baby steps quite a bit and think out each phase and how I’m going to go about it all. The thing you’ve gotta do is always be questioning yourself about the work all the way through with this little number:
    Will this work?
And of course I’d have some other criteria too and it’d have to satisfy them to a reasonable degree as well.
A bit of analytical idea-churning before doing something is always good.
What is it going to look like?
That’s the first one, then Can I do any better here? Can I work in anything else?
And Am I capable of doing whatever I’ve decided I want or is there a way to cheat and achieve similar results?
So there you go, the YF guide to a small part of the creative process, hope it helps. Thanks for visiting, come back anytime

It’s Okay to be sometimes …I guess ;-) great drawing and WELL DONE !

  • theyellowfury replied

Sometimes things are just too big and awful and you have to go through it. But it should be avoided if possible. It’s a decision to get that way and most people choose to be upset without noticing they had the option.

Yeah, I’m loving this one! The whole emotionally falling apart theme is portrayed brilliantly…..it’s great when you can release some of the pent up emotions that have been locked up inside, eh? Again, fantastic and well done!

  • theyellowfury replied

Thanks Mikey. You’re dead right, art’s so much better when you’re trying to illustrate strongs emotions as they’re abstract concepts.
This illustrates what I’m trying to say better
