Pinocchio: The whale
This is the stage design for the scene where Pinocchio finds his dad in the Dogfish stomach… I drew it more like a whale, with a little stone in the middle where Geppetto should sit.
As for the other drawings in this project, I used ink pen, with no colours, since my point of view on the story was a bit like that: black and white, timeless, deeply melancholic, scary but still ironic.

Beautiful series TWM. I won’t ask if you like Tim Burtons work. How wonderful to have a focus for your clever and dramatic creativity.

Thank you! I do… but oddly enough I just developed this style of my own and then realized it kinda matched his imagery.
I guess we can’t invent anything nowadays, but just make it our own!

Ye, it comes from liking the same things, similar personalities, or whatever. Happens a lot. Then there’s something I like to call the ‘psycosphere’, which contains thoughts and ideas floating in the ether, that people can just pluck from or tune into, well it does help explain coincidental stuff anyway :)

WOW, yah, same stuff I think … we have libraries in our minds of things we have seen, heard, or even just passed in front of that create our mental world and resource to pick from. :) Often is not intentional, it’s just the creative process… thank you for the nice exchange of opinions :)
