How do you know your artwork is safe? How do you find out if someone has used it without your permission?
Well, we are one step closer now that Google has a search facility where you can download the image (or url) you are trying to track and it will find all webpages using the same image.
I input my most popular image in my redbubble portfolio and found two websites using it without my permission and it is a piece of cake to use.
Type in images.google.com into your Internet browser.
Click on the little blue camera icon in the search box.
An image search box will open.
Type in the image location (found by right clicking on the image on the redbubble page, eg http://ih2.redbubble.net/work.2614429.9.flat,55...
Click on search.
Using the redbubble image location with the 550×550,075,f,jpg ending will use the full uncropped image without a watermark, which may confuse the search.
Alternatively, you can download the image itself from your computer into the search box and it will find any matches that way instead.
I have found two matches for my most popular image on the first search I did, and I have already written two emails to the companies concerned.
Have a go and let everyone here know if you find a match. Spread the word.
