Laban Centre
The curve of the front of the building combined with the huge glass window on the corner of it, and the fabulous spring weather we are currently enjoying at the moment, allowed me to catch this view straight from the camera.

AMAZING, I have nothing else to say ;-)
Fabulous shot.

TheWalkerTouch replied
Thank you h. I have to say I find the building very uninspiring myself. I was just passing one day and went into the grounds looking for something else, and came across this view quite by chance. It seems no one else has noticed it as when I google for images of it, they come come up with square flat blocks.

Is this a church in California?
TheWalkerTouch replied
Not a church and not California. Sorry!
Stuart Thorpe
I haven’t Googled it and haven’t a clue what it is although I was in London a coupla years ago sightseeing with my wife and son.(I’m from Harrow originally) and it is hard to believe that you find it uninspiring when you have have made this shot…whatever, congratulations on winning the challenge and on the image.
TheWalkerTouch replied
Thank you Stuart. If you visited Greenwich while you were in London you may have passed this on the way.
I rather meant to say I had previously found the building to be uninspiring, but I suppose I should go back and make the most of my discovery when I have more time.
Stuart Thorpe
Didn’t go to Greenwich although I did live there for a while too…long time before this was built..I’ll have to google!!
TheWalkerTouch replied
If I say anything more about it, you would find it instantly on a google image search. Every time I think of something new to say about it, I google it and there it is, so not saying anything more, although there is a little clue on the Bubble Jeopardy forum, I believe.
Stuart Thorpe
Hang on….wasn’t the question ‘where is this?’ so it’s not Greenwich, London then…?
TheWalkerTouch replied
It is very close to Greenwich London, but not in Greenwich.
Stuart Thorpe
Googled and Flickrd a bit but didn’t see anything like it …perhaps as you say, because it looks unispiring from some angles..weird when it is so impressively graceful from the angle you shot it from….nah, you are just a great photographer
is all!
TheWalkerTouch replied
The roof is actually flat. The curve of the building and the low angle just gives that impressive high sweep. That might help you google more effectively.
TheWalkerTouch replied
If you click on this link you will see the usual view of the building. That face of it is curved and my shot was taken from the right hand corner.
Stuart Thorpe
I see what you mean now..the ‘normal’ angle of view is pretty ho hum to say the least. Your shot converts into something really remarkable, but I’m too dim to find
it despite further searching!!
TheWalkerTouch replied
A you are the only one who is giving it a go, I will put you out of your misery.
It is the Laban Centre in Deptford, which is the largest purpose built dance centre in the world, allegedly.
Thank you for your interest Stuart. I am pleased you like it.
Stuart Thorpe
I like it very much, and thanks for putting me out of my misery! Deptford, hah, I did a photography course there half a life time ago!!
shame not many people are playing jeopardy at all at the moment, but it comes and goes in phases – Summer’s here. looking forward to seeing a lot more of your work. Cheers.
TheWalkerTouch replied
I have just put a new one on there Stuart. This one might be a little easier, though you can make it harder if you want to guess the exact branch…..lol

Great work. Congratulations.
TheWalkerTouch replied
Merci beaucoup!
kalaryder
This is lovely, what is the Laban Centre?
TheWalkerTouch replied
Thank you Kala! The Laban Centre is the largest purpose built dance centre in the world, apparently. It is about a mile away from where I live and looks nothing like the picture really. It is flat block but the curve of the front of it, combined with the reflection in the huge window on the bottom corner, gave me that image when I was just scouting round for shots one lunchtime. Google it for more normal shots and you will see it is not quite so inspiring as my picture makes it look. I really ought to get back there and get some more. I have no excuses!

Wow! this is awesome!! (I hate that word, but it’s really apt for this image!)
