The lake is speckled with hundreds of older Rajput style buildings, constructed with the city when the Maharana of Mewar was forced to relocate his Kingdom and people from Chitoorgarh Fort, Chitoor due to increasing assaults at the hands of various attackers.

I visited Udaipur when the lake bed was completely dry, but within a few days of arriving the heavens opened and it poured and poured. It’s an amazing place ~ so colourful and vibrant. Love the photo!
