The Overshadowed

her halo aglow,
a story
of glory
and grace
in face…
so hallowed a mona
lavender veiled.
a radiant flow bestowed
turns focus adrift
to tender tilt
and shifting shape in stare.
gazing yields a favored
virgin servant blessed,
a light for revelation
to ponder in the heart…
a memory of a moment
certain as now

This poem was inspired by Blake Steele’s picture titled Kea Icon. You can visit Blake here

In 2005, Blake spent eight days on the island of Kea, Greece photographing the religious paintings found in the churches and chapels there, as well as the surrounding islands. Blake says the lighting effect in this picture was from reflections in the glass that was over the painting. That’s one way to describe it.
