Making an image show up in a journal entry or forum post

Go to an image that you want to display in a journal post and right-click on it, then select “Copy image location”-

Now go and open a journal entry (or forum post or whatever) and paste the link in there. It will look something like this:

Now, just add an exclamation mark before and after the image and you are done adding an image. Now you can add text and other images and save the work and your image will show up.

For Internet Explorer users:

1. Right-click on the image and go to properties. Then:

2. highlight and copy all of that text and then paste it into your journal entry or forum post.

3. Add the exclamation mark before and after the link as shown above.

4. Add other text and images and you should be able to save and see your pictures!

Trying to do this using Safari:

Here is an image I loaded. I right-clicked and chose “Copy Image Address”. Let’s see if this works:

Thanks Matt…it sounds great and easy, even for a Mac user like me. Kathie Nichols referred me to this page.
So, I’ll let both of you know if I get it to work. And will let you know how I did it, in case there are any other wise Red Bubblers out there who also use Macs!!!

OK Matt…I’m back again. Here’s what I did and what happened:

As I don’t have right click capability I simply went to the buy/preview for a photo in my portfolio and double clicked/copied the URL on that page. I then went into the upload page and pasted this in the description box, with the ! in front and at the end as you have explained (quite clearly, by the way).
I then hit submit and the changes were saved.
But all I seemed to have on the public view page were two blue boxes with ? in the middle.
I think this means something along the lines of information missing.

If you can give me an idea about what I’ve done wrong, I will be eternally grateful.

    Thanks heaps

    Jan

PS. The way to utilise the right-click capability on a Mac is to hold down the Control key when you click.

Sorry, I have not been around for a while!.

I am using Firefox. With the Mac you are probably using Safari. Let me take a look with Safari and I will let you know how to do it!

    Alyson Pearson,

I don’t think using a local file would work. To get around this I just add the image I want the way I would add any other picture. I go to “Upload something” and just upload the image I want to link to and then I make sure that the image is not for sale and not viewable and then people will not see it when they view my portfolio. Then I do the process above to put it in a journal post or whatever.
