Self-portrait for CD cover

Creating a compelling portrait with prismacolors has always proven difficult. I keep coming back to the subject from time to time to see if I’ve improved at all. The need for a CD cover image for a future album release prompted this attempt.

another fabulous piece of artwork Michael….I see the window to your soul is open and the pose of one deep in thought. when did you paint this? Everything is perfect in this image…the folds and creases …and the light on the hair. etc ...all rather fascinating…gotta be a fav.

  • thepaintedsoul replied

Hey Linda. . . I can’t remember when I drew it. It’s been awhile. You’ve caught it. This was the seed of thought that gave me my screen name here of thepaintedsoul. : >D

Glad you find it of interest, my friend.

WOW awesome work Michael, I love this! You are a musician also, there is no end to your many talents my friend! :) Did you ever look at that little video link In the reply to “Vortex”?

  • thepaintedsoul replied

Thanks Gail. Yes, I did look at that link, but I didn’t have sound on my machine. : >(

Maybe someday I can go to it again on a computer with sound output working.

Yes, I am a musician. I used to tour a fair amount in the States, but never made it. : >D I was born a little too late for the folk-rock scene. I still play and my first CD will be coming out sometime this year. . . just hard to find the time for everything.

I hesitate to use it, because it is such an overused word, but it is the only one that springs to mind that sums up my response to this painting – it is AWESOME!!! The body language speaks volumes, the blue/orange colours work so well together and the ‘window’ idea is just brilliant! Michael – this is a stunningly beautiful piece of artwork, (so different from your rabbitsfoot self portrait). 11/10!!!

  • thepaintedsoul replied

LOL! Yes. . . that’s the shy side of me in this one. . . the person who I tend to be. But to meet me, you’d think. . . WHAT? This guy is an extrovert. : >D

Thanks so much Lynda. I hope you are finding cool places to hide from the crockpot weather you all are experiencing right now.
