A painful investigation of life, both on behalf of the artist and the subject. Nice!
thepaintedsoul replied
Great observation Aaron. Nice to know that this aspect of the work was apparent to you.

What is the significance of the title? I find the whole very intriguing, as you have life within a still life…
thepaintedsoul replied
When I was constructing the composition, I had been reading about different places in the world where children live terrifying unsafe lives. Stories of toys that exploded when children picked them up. Those sorts of nighmarish ideas. I felt like I wanted to make some comment on it, but didn’t want to overstate it for fear it would look like a bad melodrama. So I was trying to hint at the threat woven into the wonder and innocence of children in some places in the world.
Thanks for asking Janis.

I just want to know what is under the black tape!...no really this is something to ponder with a dry martini!

Ah.. . it’s one of my favorite sea shells. The patterns in its surface are dazzling.

“Tion” is dying…...........hmm can’t make it out. OBL and or somethng ?intriguing for sure. Beautifully done !
thepaintedsoul replied
Thanks. . . the whole caption on the burnt letter is “A nation is dying.” The accompanying letter was a plea to help support aid to children suffering in Afghnistan during the Russian occupation. I know it’s not cheery, but neither is all of life, right? Thanks for taking the time to give this a look.
Linda Callaghan
fabulous interpretation of what is happening in the world today Michael…another painting filled with your perfect paint strokes with a twist, as this also portrays imperfection in the world we live in. Deep and makes one think…great art!
thepaintedsoul replied
Glad you stopped by Linda. Wondered how this painting would play with my RB buddies. Tried to keep this a bit mysterious.
Tahnja
deep and meaningful motivation behind this one and well worth making a statement about
thepaintedsoul replied
Thanks Tahnja.

Hmmmm! I find this really disturbing.
thepaintedsoul replied
Yes. . . it is one of those unsettling issues. Isn’t it good we have art sometimes to rid the dark spots in our life sometimes?
Janis Zroback
Thank you Michael for explaining the story behind the work…you have done a brilliant job…
thepaintedsoul replied
Thanks so much Janis.
Joyce Dickens,...
Excellent!

Hey Joyce, Don’t know how I missed your comment, but I’m glad to have stumbled upon it today. Thanks for dropping by and have a great week. Cheers! TPS
Renate Dartois
Thought-provoking art-work children have been in harms way for a long time not just in other places right here in in this country something no wants to talk about…
thepaintedsoul replied
Yes, it is tempting to ignore reality when it doesn’t hold up with our experiences and our need to feel comfortable. Sometimes we can get complacent and be lulled into believing it’s none of our business or we can’t make a difference. But it is our biz and we can make a difference, even with just a little effort. So I choose to remain hopeful and engaged as a I take my part in this dance we all live.
. . . . .. . . . ..
Appreciate your comment very much, Renate.

Such beautiful work…. love the lighting and shadows. EXCELLENT piece!

Thanks Janette. Always love receiving a comment or two. Glad you enjoy this one. The little kid at the wall is my oldest son, who is now 6’6”, towering over his 6’2” dad. LOL! Have a great weekend ahead.
