Self-portrait

Self-portrait

This is the first serious self-portrait I painted of myself. Probably because I am a very private person, and I’m not that thrilled with the guy looking back at me in the mirror. : >) But I post it because it’s my second 100% digital painting. The first being the Listening House landscape.

what a fabulous self portrait….love the way you have placed yourself off to one side which is unusual but leads the eye around the painting – great art again! oh also the Blue is a fabulous contrast

  • thepaintedsoul replied

Thanks Linda. Pushing myself to the edge seemed to convey how I feel about life most of the time. : >)

Wow stunning portrait!!! It is so lively!!!!

Thanks. It was a good exercise for me. Figured if I could draw myself with a mouse. . . well it might help me to paint with a brush a little better. Cheers!

It’s excellent… I have been away and I see you have been spreading your wings here on RB! It’s a good experience, isn’t it? :)

  • thepaintedsoul replied

Thanks Gail. Yes, I am spreading my wings. . .thanks to Susan Bergstrom. She has told me to jump out here in the wide open and test my work in these groups. To quit hiding. : >) The advice seemed sound, so I’ve been trying to do just that. God bless Susan for pushing me…LOL

    Oh my gosh,
This is a digital painting? No paint, ink or pencil? All along I thought your avatar was a oil or something other than digital. This is a beautiful work… I just wonder… how did you do that.

  • thepaintedsoul replied

Sometimes things work out. . .sometimes they don’t. You won’t ever see the ones I botched. : >)

    Glad you like it.

I love having a face for the artist – and yours is a good face! To me this piece says you are not the center of your own universe, you are a reflective person and your eyes are bright and compassionate. There is also wisdom and I see a slight speck of a sense of humor in your eyes and facial expression. Wonderfully done and I could study this face for a long time. Forgive me if I have read too much into your portrait, but that is what I see : ) Your work most definitely needs to be out there for people to see!

  • thepaintedsoul replied

You have a fine way of articulating your observations. You did get it with me crowded to the edge of the canvas. That was intentional for a lot of the reasons you mention. Thanks for caring enough to drop by. Cheers! TPS

A beautiful piece, excellently done. And the face tell many stories. I also see a spark in the eye, that speaks of “deeper looking” and humor.
The lips are very sensual, if I may say so. Lovely to look at, this piece of art!
    Merry Christmas!

Hello Trixi, How nice of you to drop by. Glad you enjoyed this self-portrait. I hate painting my own image, but I know it’s good for me. Maybe it’s the reality of seeing myself age. : >D Used to be a fairly handsome man in my 20s, but life can work on you, can’t it? Thanks for taking the time. Have a fab Christmas! TPS
