Pigeon River - Leaf Season II
I made a pilgrimage back to the same stretch of river I had explored in the other Pigeon River painting. This time it was leaf season and traffic was snarled for more than 20 miles as the procession of Fall leaf watchers hugged the edges of the mountains. I was never so glad to abandon the main road and take a break in this section of the river away from the city-stye traffic jam.

This very pretty, paintedsoul! It reminds me of Oregon, where I’m from originally! Peaceful and untouched in so many places. Nicely done! I feel acrylics are difficult.
thepaintedsoul replied
Hey Jean. Thanks for dropping by to have a look. I wish I could see the original again. Alas its home is northern Michigan. : >D Acrylics do seem tougher to get a look I’m wanting. But I feel like I’m slowly getting more comfortable with them. Have a great week! TPS

Is this the Pigeon River in Gatlinburg, Tennessee? The water in this painting is beyond superb…..looks as if I could put my feet in it and stay a while. Truly, the water is unbelievable! And I know what you mean about the ‘crouds’ because I live in Nashville…..another tourist town
thepaintedsoul replied 12 days ago
Hi Deborah, Yes, it is close to Gatlinburg. Just up the road in the mountains another four or five miles. Water is tough to paint, at least it is for me. : >D That’s why it’s so rewarding to hear someone comment about that aspect of the painting. Thanks so much for your kindness.

WOW! That’s unexpected and a delight. I appreciate John selecting this painting. I wish this work were still in my own collection. But last I heard, it was residing in a home about 500 miles away in northern Michigan. Thanks for letting me know about this Lynda. Cheers!
