Pigeon River - mini-falls
When my children were toddlers I would take them camping in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We’d always visit this one expanse of the Pigeon River where it was fairly tame. It had a lot of fabulous rock arrangements woven into the flow of the water and when I stumbled onto this little waterfall, I knew I wanted to paint it.

There is a flow and movement here that expresses such life and emotion…..the Earth in her glory…... You have created this image with perfection and beauty…...
thepaintedsoul replied
There is a primeval power in the rocks, trees, and water here. Somber. Brooding quiet. Thanks for your comment. Cheers!
Josette21
You have the eye of an artist! This is marvellous….all of the rock forms, water and monochromatic shadings all working in perfect harmony. Well done!

Well, when you have 3’ x 5’ of canvas to fill up, ya’ gotta put some detail in there. Right? LOL.
Thanks so much for the compliment Gary. I do appreciate your taking the time.

Janis Zroback
Not finished…it is a work in progress…I’ve posted bits of it here in my writing pages…
thepaintedsoul replied
Good, I’ll check it out. That’s kind of what The Painted Soul: Photographs is for me. Part memoir, part explanation of my music and the themes in the lyrics. I’ve posted bits of it here, too. : >)

Carole Russell
Truely beautiful – and sooo big – must look fantastic on a nice big wall
thepaintedsoul replied
Hey Carole, It used to look good on a great big wall. The place where i live now has plaster walls so I don’t hang any of my work. It’s all stacked neatly in a corner waiting. . .It’s a reall loose painting, too.
KcranmerArt
Another gorgeous piece…love how your details and textures just pop in your artwork!!
thepaintedsoul replied
Thanks Kellie. Great to know it’s working in those two areas. You know what it’s like when you capture an idea, you wonder if it is worth it. Have a fab weekend!

Ciska
Wow, what an incredible painting, great colours and tones, and the place looks so inviting!!!
thepaintedsoul replied
Thanks CIska. It sure is a wonderful place. There are painting ideas all up and down this part of the river. When my kids were toddlers, it was a magical river for them. It was shallow and cold and filled with wonderful colored pebbles and stones.
