Columbine Lake, Colorado

Columbine Lake, Colorado

Columbine Lake was painted from a photo I took of this high mountain lake in Colorado while on a backpacking trip. The setting was spectacular, so I couldn’t resist. It took me two months to finish the piece as I reworked the paint to create a good harmony of color.

This is stunning work…having had a ranch in Colorado for 20 years and we still have two corporations there…this is what I miss about Colorado!

  • thepaintedsoul replied

That’s so cool you had the ranch. This is up north of Winter Park a few miles. Thanks!

This evokes the feelings of a scene in a deep meditation…there is such a crystal clear clarity, yet a sense of a place that is beyond the physical….
    Beautiful art!

  • thepaintedsoul replied

Thanks Wendy. When I relive that day, there was an almost super-real feel to it. At around 10,000 ft, the air, the sky, the water are so vivid and other-worldly. Appreciate your observation. Cheers!

  • thepaintedsoul replied

WOW! Gail. . . I’ve been a bit absent here lately. Hate to hear about the kidney stones. THEY ARE EXCRUCIATING! Have a good friend who has regular bouts with them. It pretty much incapacitates him.

Wowie this is awesome! You really do a fantastic job painting never mind how long it takes it is so worth it! how easy to snap a shot but to paint it, I only wish I could paint well I do paint but not this kind was painting some flowers last night on a picture frame I felt like a kid was painting with nail polish lol and then I see a real painting gee I think I will stick to my camera! :-)

  • thepaintedsoul replied

LOL! You’re so funny. . .I get some highly entertaining comments about this painting since it’s displayed in our living room. A lot of people think it’s a big poster of a photo. But many people tell me they paint the house or the garage. . .with a roller. Always fun.

Thanks for dropping by. Nice meeting you. Cheers!

Hey Leslie, Thanks for stopping by. I’m glad you enjoyed viewing this painting. I’m happy to say it hangs on the wall in my living room. I almost caved and sold it to someone a couple of years ago. In retrospect, glad I didn’t : >D Have a great week. Cheers!TPS
