Clayton Commerce Reflections

What fascinated me most in painting this piece was the color possibilities with the stoplight and the pebbles in the trash bin. IN fact, I almost got obsessive-compulsive as I tried to paint each pebble a different color.

another of your paintings which to me looks like a still from a film, beautfiully painted, ive just looked through all your work, your very talented and have some amazing work paintedsoul ! ; )

  • thepaintedsoul replied

You know what made this series of city reflection paintings so enjoyable was working at a large enough size I could really play with subtle colors. If you could see the originals they really are loose. For example, in the stoplight on the right, I slapped down a gunmetal gray then glazed – in thin strokes – differing types of gray, ie. red-gray, green-gray, etc. That’s what makes painting so satisfying for me. Oh I went on too long. Anyway, thanks for being so generous with your time and attention. Wishing you the best with your work. Cheers!
