THE EMPRESS is the third trump or Major Arcana card in traditional Tarot deck.

This is my third interpretation of a Tarot card that I have done, below are links to two others The Magician and The Death card. Thanks for looking.

The Empress is the fourth card in the tarot deck’s Major Arcana. The number associated with her is three, as at her core level she is the point at which the sequence of the tarot begins to deal with the relationship between the spirit, mind, and body. The Empress herself can be said to represent the last of these three – the body, as well as the world of the physical at large.

As a matter of fact, we can go one step further than saying that the Empress represents the physical world. In many ways she actually is this very world and all that makes it what it is. She is wealth, sensory pleasure, and prosperity in all their many forms as well. The world she lives in is our world exactly as it was meant to be – ideal, beautiful, and bountiful. As such, she is also said to be a representation of motherhood, nature and the creation of life. She is, quite simply, abundance in all its many forms.

    Curious….
    Enough….curious enough.
For the most…the Empress represents the boutiful and generous sexual drive and penitude of Nature…the “anima” of the human world…the great Mother, Lover and Giver of Life and Breeding. And for that reason she should hold the staff of the Empress…must govern, direct ad attract and submmitt…somehow the other energies at hand. This is the most strange and personal depiction that I have ever seen. Some say that the artist that depict the Tarot cards is giving much information about him or herself. I could say that too. I do not depict any..for I feel too contaminated by the particular pack that I love so much. ·The Marseilles Pack. So all of the other..that drive away from this one are to be discovered and interpreted again by me. And you see, I have found that your Empress has much of a “Trickster”. She seems really coquette, and her smile reminds me much of a Joker…She is doing tricks, like that of covering with a prudish affection and with opportunistic objects her most sexual parts of her body…that is her breast and her womb and genitals…but this hand is at the same time lifting the veil of her dress…in order to excite…to attract. Her eyes are seemingly naive but they are burning with desire. Even her cheeks are reproducing the apples bloom…those fruits, almost turned into a pasted sort of forms giving the oppulent and juicy look of apples..but somehow being like little gnome’s heads…inviting us to get into that tangled wood of dry branches,
    intricate thoughts and spidery vision.
Freightful!!. And soooo attractive. I wonder..if she is the representation of abundance….why did you place as a background such a leaveless and dried vegetation? I could guess.. Apparent drieness. Eternal youth of a spring..just ready to burst out in green. The image has many dimensions, and for the least here…a double sense. And quite a twisted resolution….it makes me smile, wonder and wait..for for sure…something is going to happen.
Rosa (it is reall great, Larry….you are so personal. I love it)

  • I have a lot of fun doing these Tarot interpretations Rosie, but I must admit I don’t know what I am doing. I do get carried away with the way I want it to look and not a true interpretation. If there are some kind of guidelines for this sort of thing I certainly am not following them. For me its pure intuition and instinct and I do think you are completely right when you say the artist thats depicts the Tarot Deck is giving much information about themselves. This is a learning experience for me and a fun one. My lack of knowledge of the Tarot certainly gives me a innocent approach. I know you are a very experienced Tarot person so I appreciate your comment even more. Always love your words. A big Hug

Such a veritable feast for the eyes and soul dear Larry- WOWEE! This Empress is the tops man. Amazing eyes and smile- a little coy behind the fan…but so alluring us into her world of comforts…The details is always the winner in your work for me- the amazing sheer leaf patterns on her arms, what looks like an infant’s arm reaching across her lap, holding what appears fruit from this amazing rosehip-looking bush…Larry I am hoping this series will be released as a book or calendar- this is going to be a keeper at any rate.

  • Thanks Rosie, your appreciation of it makes it worthwhile, always good to have a fan, as I am a great fan of all your work, which is so good. I’’ll keep plugging away on this series and definitely a calendar is in the works a t some point. Always a friend Thanks again

Oh I just read Rosa’s contribution- I was thinking myself the Empress’s lips reminded me of Batman’s Joker…
