Cherry blossom, Spring morning sky by

(AS IS, Finepix F70EXR, f=50mm (282mm in 35 equivalent), f/5.5, 1/280secs, ISO100, WB cloudy, +1/3EV, EXR mode: DR))
I just love April – few things are more cheerful than the fresh blossom lit by the morning sun on a backdrop of pure blue sky.
The picture is straight from the camera – Nature provided the colours and lighting, and Fujifilm Finepix F70EXR helped with the capture. The blurred background just happened – I wanted a blossom branch against the pure blue sky, but there was a wall on the way and I couldn’t move to get the framing I wanted, so I had to contend with another branch in the background – turned out alright, I think :) I wouldn’t know how to do it in PS, I don’t post-process at all (the rare occasions I do, I say it in the Description, like here)

    Just gorgeous…

  • Many thanks, visit and feedback much appreciated, I’m very flattered you made it one of your favourites (your ‘Eagle Wings’ is one of my favourites in RB, when I just joined and didn’t know about marking them as such)

Gorgeous flowers. Different kind than I always see.

Just curious, did you make blurry backgroud on PS, or on your camera? Nice focus!

This is such an interesting DoF for a photo with a subject and background of uniform color. I love it though! You really have to look intently to to mentally separate the foreground from the background. You’ve done a great job here.

  • Many thanks for you kind feedback, I’m glad you like it – I get the same feeling of having to look longer to focus gradually from the wider background branch to the foreground flowers :-)
I’ll update the Description to explain how it happened, but for now I’ll paste my reply to a previous comment:

Thanks for explaining. I also rely on my camera, but only it get wakcy I edit on the Photoshop, not using for digital art effect. I take reflection pictures. Some people have asked me if I manipulated in a darkroom, but I also enjoy what my camera can capture with light and shadow.

I tend to take all focused images, (because most of the time I take pictures of my art works), so it helps to see such a effective narrow focused shot. Thanks!

  • Our cameras are very clever these days, so we can just relax, point and shoot :-) Many thanks for your kind compliments, much appreciated
