I’d like to say, like others, that ‘I always had a passion for photography’, but mine was more like a slow-burning fire: there, under the layer of more pressing activities of daily life, and just about keeping alive. Did my share of darkroom work during my student years, and enjoyed the black and white process from end to end. Finally switched to digital in 2004, and I only print pictures once a year…

Decided to show some of my pictures to people other than my dear family and friends, and see if other people like them too. So here I am, at your mercy! :-) Comments welcome, detailed comments even more welcome – many thanks in advance.

I rarely touch my pictures (and I’m limiting that to cropping!), I truly believe that what we capture, we capture, and we must improve our skills in that, rather than spend precious time in working on a few things – life’s too short!
(My gear: a Fujifilm Finepix F31fd and a Fujifilm Finepix F70EXR, still learning.)

For those curious to see why I chose Themis as avatar name and what does it mean, have a look here – aspirational :-)

I took out of this page the lists of my top ten and my featured work, as the profile description box is actually limited ;-)

WOW! You Must Have a Good Camera

Thanks to Jay Ryser for posting this good article. / Don’t you get annoyed at least a bit when you show people a photo and the first thing they ask you is ‘what camera/equipment did you use?’? I put a few of mine as a desktop background at work (I work in a grey office, far from the window, and the view outside is of a shopping centre, so I put a few bright nature ones) –…

One year ago...

…I was dithering over what user name I should choose for registration on this site. Having settled on that and taken the plunge, I uploaded a few pictures and within minutes I had my first comment! A year later, my work has been viewed more than 25000 times, almost 3000 comments have appeared on my work pages, more than 350 times someone liked one of my pictures enough to add it to their …

My Featured Work

I joined Red Bubble to verify my theory that my family and friends are kind to me when they say they like my work – I’m happy to report that complete strangers seem to also like my work :-) Enough to vote for it challenges (see my Top Ten list – these two lists used to be on my profile page, but it got too cluttered (yay! ), and some hosts have been kind enough to feature my wo…

My Top Tens

…well, at least those I kept a record of and whose record hasn’t been lost due to profile description box length restriction (it’s not unlimited, you know… if you keep adding at the top, it falls out at the bottom). / So here they are, since February 2010 – with my thanks to those who voted for my pictures in any challenge, as well as to all those who visit my portfo…
