This is a design I had forgotten all about until I flipped through my first mandala sketch book while looking for a design I had yet to do anything with officially. Regrettably I have also forgotten what was motivation for this design. All I know is that when I spotted it, I immediately knew I had make it an official mandala design.
Normally I size my mandalas at 12" diameter. This one felt like it wanted to be large. So I opted to paint this one in watercolors at 30" diameter. The day I drew it out on the paper, I wondered about the colors I’d use. The next morning I woke up seeing just the green part of the painting done. In my mind it looked like green marble stonework. At least now I had a place to start. The rest of the painting just fell into place once I finished the green section.
Mandala’s Message: “As above, so below. One with the other. All ways as one. Always.”
