In 2007 I explored a new-to-me technique of pouring ink over vegetation on wet watercolor paper. I call it ‘happenings’ art because I never know what’s going to happen until it dries. It’s always a surprise…sometimes positive, sometimes negative.
Once it dries then if needed, I enhance what I see with color pencils, watercolors, and/or markers. Normally I use bright colors, however for this piece I used warm, nature colors over some leaves.
When this piece dried, some of the leaves stuck to the paper so I just left them there. Some of the branches were barely noticeable so I emphasized the shadows to make the branches stick out more (pardon the pun).
