A Maze Zing by TheMandalaLady

Many of my mandala designs start out in the middle as a doodle or simple idea. From there, they seem to evolve on their own. I look at an empty space and it feels like a line should go here or there; when I follow that process I’m usually ‘amazed’ at the results.

My favorite color palette to use is primary/secondary colors, which tie in with rainbow and chakra colors. Here the 6-pointed star looks more like a color wheel. Whatever color used in the star point, the two other colors of its grouping (primary or secondary) occupy the triangles that flank the point.

Mandala’s Message: “It’s amazing how simple it is to be at peace. Just stop. And be.”

In 1999 on a trip to Egypt, I began drawing my first mandalas. Throughout the region, I saw amazing patterns on almost every site we visited. My analytical mind loved the geometry of the Islamic and Egyptian art. My heart & soul loved their beauty & symmetry. After I returned, I saw patterns in everything around me. I translate these into mandalas. In 2000 I added meditation to the process so that I could fully explore their metaphysical natures while guiding me on my own spiritual journey.
