I was lucky enough today to have the time to get back out to this magic place, and just at the right time too when all the leaves have turned but not yet fallen from the trees. The last time I went there (exactly a month earlier) they were replacing the bridges between the islands so I couldn’t get to the best spot, and even though they are still working on the bridges, I did what any good photographer would do and jumped the barriers anyway.
Taken at the Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens, Dandenong Ranges NP, Victoria.
Shot with a Nikon D200, 12-24mm lens at 20mm, F/16, 100 ISO. 7 shot HDR. Tone mapped in Photomatix, other adjustments in Photoshop.

Alex, congrats on the feature and on a wonderful shot. You make me laugh with your comments….you did what any good photograher would do and jumped the barriers anyway….lol…The barriers were still up when I was there and some of the bridges are still being repaired. Autumn is the perfect time for this location, I agree and your shot does this justice. Well done. An instant fave.
Thanks Elana, I appreciate it :)
I’ve always said the second most important tool in a photographer’s kit is a pair of boltcutters!
